By cruising the rivers and waterways of the Eastern Shore, the author looks into a vanishing culture that is rapidly changing. Numerous interactions with area citizens who freely discussed life from a bygone era described a heritage that will, in years to come, fade into a distant memory.

Don Parks, a retired school administrator, has lived along the banks of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries for most of his life. His summers were spent within a stone's throw of a major Eastern Shore river. He has devoted a great deal of time to exploring the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries in his boat, Yankee Rover.
